A warm welcome
The memory of a visit to Siopa Ceoil an Daingin, our little gem of a music shop in Dingle, Co. Kerry will leave a lingering warmth with all who step into its welcoming door.
Owned by local musician Michael Herlihy and run full-time by both himself and Caitriona Nolan. Our first season in business was a generous introduction of much music, dancing, merriment, chat and laughter as many a summer's evening was suddenly transformed into a mighty session of ceol and craic.
Specialising in Irish traditional music, we have an astounding selection available here. Old and new releases mingle together on the shelves and if it's not there just ask either Michael or myself. If it can be got, it will be got and swiftly sent on to you, wherever you live in the world.
Local musicians and singers are promoted strongly and the shop is situated alongside St James' Church in Main Street Dingle, where the summer folk/trad concerts take place three nights each week from April to October and where the 'Other voices Songs From A Room' concerts take place each December. Tickets can be purchased here for all the concerts at St James' excluding 'Other Voices' tickets which are sold online.
Music all around
The shop is neat in size and has a rich, warm, homely atmo-sphere. There's an old Irish dresser complete with crockery and a bottle of the finest 'Uisce beatha' sometimes offered to warm the spirit and to nimble the toes of the ladies who may take a twirl with Michael
We stock a very nice variety of Bodhráns, Whistles, Low Whistles and Harps, Uilleann Pipe starter sets, Accordions, Music DVD tutors, Song and Music books. During the summer months there is a daily Bodhrán demonstration by Eric Marini.
A strong emphasis is placed on the promotion and use of the Irish language by Michael.
A 'CEAD MILE FAILTE' awaits all who will visit Siopa Ceoil an Daingin in the future and all who will return to visit us over the coming season.
